Schiff/Bio Foods Extra Strength Cranberry Concentrate

Schiff/Bio Foods Extra Strength Cranberry ConcentrateDon't let your overactive bladder dictate your schedule - take control with the Flotrol Natural Bladder Control and Support supplement. Promoting bladder health and your quality of life with Flotrol Bladder Control Formula. Bladder and urinary tract health can have emotional, psychological and social effects. Take steps now to maintain bladder and urinary tract health with Flotrol for Men and Women.

A normal bladder has a capacity of 400 to 500 milliliters. During normal urination, ring like bands of muscles known as sphincters relax or contract to either stop or start the flow of urine. During urination, the bladder walls contract or relax as well. It is important to keep these muscles toned and strong as we age for optimal urinary and bladder health.

The Flotrol Bladder Control Formula can help strengthen these muscles while also having a unique calming effect on the bladder. It is a combination of soy germ extract and lipid-free pumpkin seed extract. Soy is considered to be beneficial for maintaining a healthy bladder. The use of pumpkin seed dates back to 16th century when it was used for urinary tract health
In a clinical study, subjects were given a tablet that contained a combination of pumpkin seed and soybean germ extracts over a period of several weeks. Measurements were taken for frequency of urination during the day and night, any emergency episodes and the degree of satisfaction. Marked improvement in urinary tract health and quality of life was shown after the first week with further improvement after the second week and, compared with the pretrial observational period, continued to improve throughout week six.

Pet Vet: Bladder stones in dogs

McClatchy Newspapers

May face Cassy surgery, and Wanda are "very concerned."

Cassy has diabetes mellitus and heart heart failure requiring daily treatment. Recently, this has been developing bladder stones.

Bladder stones are quite common in dogs is less common in cats, and also occur on tortoises and iguanas.Bladder stones in dogs are most often struvite or calcium oxalate crystals. the difference between them is that calcium oxalate stones as a more acid urine, struvites prefer a more alkaline urine.

For Cassy, must be weighed against the risk of complications in relation to the risks associated with their pieces.Bladder stones may impede urethra and create a medical emergency and may be responsible for recurring and/or chronic urinary tract infection contaminations, mainly struvite stones.

Bladder stones can be treated with surgical procedure called a cystotomy, which involves opening the bladder and extracting stones. Before surgery, the Panel and blood urinalysis performed. urinalysis helps determine what type of pieces may be present in the bladder.Sometimes, the crystals will appear in a urinalysis, and there is usually a bacterial infection associated with struvite stones. There have been cases of bladder stones where crystals do not appear in the urine.

In the case of Cassy, I would like to avoid surgery because of the potential for contamination and decreased healing related to diabetes.Heart heart failure is also an added risk, but depending on the extent, surgery can still be an option.

If the Cassy bladder stones is struvite, a special diet could help dissolve. If we can't identify the stone makeup or find is calcium oxalate, requires another course of action.

Cystoscopy is a process that I used with great success. This requires anesthesia but no surgery.Cassy's Heart must be evaluated carefully to adapt the anesthetic on the status of the heart. any additional risk beyond this is unlikely. Cystoscopy covers a specific scope introduced in the bladder. using average elapsed channels in the tunic of scope, the pieces have withdrawn this only works if the stones are very large and only with women dogs, as the scope is not flexible. the female at oyrithras is straightforward; that a male is curved and will not allow the passage of the scope.

For the sake of Cassy, I hope the stones can be dissolved with diet. If no, cystoscopy can be an option; If it is not practicable, surgery should be considered, with attention paid to the previous other underlying medical illness.

As Adam Richman, host of the Travel Channel's popular show, Man vs. Food, exclaimed, Market District is "heaven's gift to foodies". Market District appeals to food enthusiasts who enjoy the sights, smells and tastes of fresh, new and exciting foods.  The Kingsdale Market District, the fourth for the multi format food retailer, delivers a food utopia to central Ohio residents with a mix of the best in everyday offerings and unique foods from around the world. It also offers the region's first Ohio State University Medical Center FastCare retail health clinic, which will offer seasonal flu shots and screening events during the site's first few weeks.

Adam Richman kicks off the store's official grand opening with an in-store appearance.  Others on hand to celebrate the grand opening on Thursday include "The Cheese Lady" Sarah Kaufman, Veggy Art founder James Parker and football great Eddie George. The festivities continue throughout the weekend with appearances from season four Hell's Kitchen winner Christina Machamer on Friday, October 15, and America's youngest four-star chef and judge on MasterChef, Graham Elliot Bowles, on Saturday, October 16.

Proclaimed the "Disneyland of grocery stores" by Food Network celebrity and Columbus native Guy Fieri, Market District was first introduced to western Pennsylvania consumers in June 2006 and opened its third location in Robinson Township, just west of Pittsburgh, last November.  Now, celebrating its tenth anniversary in the Columbus area and 25th food market throughout central Ohio, area residents are going to be able enjoy this unique food experience.

The store opened with a 10 a.m. Thursday press conference that featured comments from Ohio Governor Ted Strickland.  "What I see in this new building is not just a set of walls," Strickland said. "I see new jobs for our people and a new day for Ohio.  Market District is creating 400 jobs and transforming the Kingsdale shopping plaza in Upper Arlington," Strickland added.  "That's an investment in central Ohio's future and a great example of the new opportunities that are rising up in Ohio today."

Building on Governor Strickland's comments, Giant Eagle Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer Laura Karet said, "The opening of the new Kingsdale Market District offers all of our best food ideas and discoveries in one place.  As a company, we are so excited to bring our customers the very best food experience imaginable – fresh, unique, delicious, colorful – all of the things someone thinks about when they taste something new and incredible."

"When customers visit this new store, they will enjoy a world-class shopping and dining experience bursting with amazing food and food expertise with everything from cooking demonstrations to celebrity chef appearances and interactive events."

Karet added that Market District's staff of 600 team members is passionate about food and ready to deliver exceptional service by sharing new products, recipes and culinary ideas.  Market District team members are graduates from schools such as the Culinary Institute of America, Columbus State Community College, and the Columbus Culinary Institute at Bradford School, complementing Giant Eagle-certified Cheesemongers and other trained food professionals.

"Our food training is extensive," concluded Karet.  "Our people – who truly bring the Market District concept to life for our customers - experience food from producers located all over the world, from small farmhouses to large suppliers.  They then utilize this knowledge to help satisfy the culinary curiosity of our customers, sharing techniques, recipes and ingredients so customers are inspired to try new things at home."

The best of the unique and the everyday

The Kingsdale Market District welcomes customers from all across the area to a new world of food, where they can sample restaurant-quality dishes and find unique meat, produce, cheese and grocery selections from around the globe.  "But that's not all," said Senior Vice President of Market District Brett Merrell.  "Market District also satisfies customers' weekly shopping needs.  While Market District does offer unique items not available elsewhere, it also sells everyday items like brand-name detergents, cola products and a number of the other items you would expect to find in a traditional Giant Eagle supermarket at the same low prices."

Merrell added that Market District is the place for food enthusiasts, but the banner's tie to Giant Eagle's family of 228 supermarkets is not forgotten.  Market District features attractive promotions, weekly specials and pricing, free antibiotics, free diabetes and $4 and $10 generic prescriptions, and ability to earn fuelperks!® and redeem foodperks!® loyalty rewards with the Giant Eagle Advantage Card®.

Isn't oil of oregano, the miracle cure,

My significant other operating at a small business office in a city outside of Cochrane, and not long after this began working there for found that it was very excited about the healing properties of oil of oregano, that their conduct as a cure for, well, basically anything officemates. Your child has a cold? Use oil of oregano. You have a headache? Oil of oregano. Severed limbs? Oil of oregano! What is even more amusing is that when I was at the Office one day to drop something, I heard one of my supporters oregano oil from chide for "narrow-minded thinking" and told me to "come on the side of science."

Hmmm. Science?

Thus, it is not particularly familiar with oil of oregano, I took to my books and powerful but often misleading Internet with bones. my previous experience with this told me that as a topical anti-bacterial, oil of oregano actually have some legitimate quality which may be useful in a pinch if you had no other way to deal with external contamination. But as often happens with medicinal alternative therapies, touted as a therapy, but (somewhat DISTURBINGLY) often treated more as a cure-alls.

The Web, as it turns out, is chock full of interesting articles about this miracle cure, but unfortunately most of the articles is filled with nothing but jokes about how wonderful this is oil.A brief search, found that oil oregano is supposedly welfare colds, flu, sore throat, bronchitis, sinusitis, asthma, bladder infections, kidney infections, peptic ulcers, fatigue, headaches, allergies, bad breath, indigestion, parasites such as Giardia Lambia (Beaver fever), cold sores, puncture wounds, dandruff, presenting, athlete foot, nail fungus, boils, bed sores, head ice, ringworm, eczema, Psoriasis, arthritis, back pain, and a whole lot more. briefly, it is likely that oil oregano can make all of them, possibly even making all multi millionaires who are continuously-happy and never pay taxes, but it can also ensure world peace. Okay, I admit that I am exaggerating, but you should read some of these websites to believe them. I think that if this stuff made even a small part of what the claim to do this, you will be cured of cancer.

Let's face it, every time that a product has a list of pathologies that can cure that is long, it only has to raise an eyebrow and ask about how realistic something like this potentially could be.As it turns out, great the hullaballoo over oil of oregano stems from some very real studies have revealed some interesting things. Firstly, it is likely that oil oregano has some antibacterial properties in a test tube. preliminary test (and I stress the word preliminary) seem to have antidepressant-like effects, anti-inflammatory effect on mice colitis in mice and some other interesting results in rodents. it should be noted that in these studies of oil of oregano was swallowing and not smeared on the legs. But here's the thing folks, the list of medicines and therapies which looked promising in mice and rats and proved useless (or dangerous) in humans is very long. some studies showing some results as they are a good start, but this is a very fast start, and not as a basis for initiating therapy with this stuff.

As the website sciencebasedpharmacy.com so eloquently puts it:

"Oil of oregano is a great example of how test tube studies may be grossly misleading to imply substantial effects on humans. With oil of oregano, a few small studies have been carried out mainly in the laboratory, and the believers claim should expect the same thing when we verbally. "

The problem with the miracle koinotismoy cures such as this are that many supporters have connected the dots between these small studies and reality. in fact, when looking at the pro-oil of oregano Web sites often one finds the same references as a study by the University of Tennessee again and again to justify that this miraculous solution can solve all your medical problems as well as privately.Readers seem to be encouraged to "try on what ails you, and of course most of these sites also have links to buy their oil oregano products.

This strikes me as perhaps the most entertaining aspect of this is that these people in Office who are all trained but not in science, I think the delivery system which is more efficient to produce oil of oregano is to rub feet of one.I kid you not ... for some reason is the best way to deliver this wonder drug delivery system established and tested drugs are the soles of our feet is so ridiculous it yet and I don't know where to begin. everyone can think is that at some point some therapists reflexology got themselves into olive oil of oregano craze and decided that this oil in double bottoms of the feet for someone is an effective way to deliver the drug in all parts of the body to adopt the miracles that are certainly approaching.

Like something like this, the real danger lies in people above Western medicine for serious complaints, such as cancer, asthma or diabetes in favour of an oil oregano treatment/treatment. of course, most folks will try typical medicine and oil of oregano as a complement to medical treatment, and the usual result side to this is in the patient's pocketbook. However, for those who decide to waive standard therapies, this can obviously lead to some serious problems, and for this reason, if no other is important to stay frosty and keep folks trained as much as possible. even if a person is inspired to think twice, it's a worthwhile effort. who knows, maybe the oregano oil will prove to be something very special, but until that day comes I'm going to keep my feet planted with terra firma so my head remains outside the clouds of imagination as to what may be supposed to make any miracle cure.

The novel compound NVC-422 broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent kills p. mirabilis bacteria in probes-guides

Patients fitted with long-term bladder catheters are often encountered a potentially serious complications caused by a gram-negative bacteria mirabilis romance that could colonising the probes-guides. A further complication caused by p. mirabilis is biofilm formation and probe with struvite crystals encrustation resulting in slowed or blocked urinary flow. If left unresolved the blockage can lead to bacteriuria, pyelonephritis and sepsis.

In a research study presented at the annual Interscience Conference on antimicrobial agents and chemotherapy (ICAAC), a team led by Dr. Dmitri Debabov head of cell and microbiology NovaBay Pharmaceuticals investigates the potential use of a non-antibiotic, anti-infective compound NVC-422. The company uses an in vitro model to imitate a catheterized bladder suffering P. mirabilis resulting in struvite encrustation.NVC-422 was able to prevent the growth and the resulting struvite formation in these chambers for bladder catheterized up to 144 hours versus alatwdes checks excluded to 46 hours; electron microscopy has confirmed that these probes were excluded due to the accumulation of biofilm and struvite.

Dr. Ron Najafi, President & CEO of NovaBay, said, "patients with long-term indwelling bladder catheters are often face severe Bacterial colonization, causing encrustation and subsequent probe blockage. current methods for unblock these probes are mechanically using atomizing or using agents trying to dissolve the struvite crystals. Unfortunately neither method provides satisfactory results. "

NovaBay estimates that more than 300,000 patients suffering from multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injuries in paraplegia or quadriplegia in stroke and use Foley catheters-guides these patients are at risk; a daily for development related to probe a urinary tract infection contaminations. P.mirabilis quickly can develop a strong biofilm resulting in stone and probe encrustation of NovaBay non-antibiotic, anti-infective deals directly with this and other bacteria in the bladder without providing an opportunity for the development of resistance and will maintain probe patency.

"The discovery research suggests that NVC-422 is a powerful, act fast, broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent with the potential to kill p. mirabilis and thus on the competitiveness of the formation of struvite crystals and subsequent probe gridlock," said Dr. Najafi.

October is interstitial cystitis (IC) awareness month and this year's campaign is dedicated to fighting discrimination. Children with bladder diseases shouldn't be punished for asking to use the restroom at school. Women shouldn't have to endure useless hysterectomies only to discover, after the fact, that their pain was coming from their bladder. Men with bladder pain shouldn't be told to "be a man" and be refused therapy. And, contrary to popular opinion, cranberry juice does not help every bladder disease and, in the case of interstitial cystitis, may trigger agonizing pain and discomfort.

Interstitial Cystitis is an Urgent Medical Condition

An estimated three to eight million women (and one to four million men) struggle with interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/PBS). Dr. Jay Burstein, a urologist at the Dekalb Clinic (Dekalb IL) offered "It's not unusual for patients to have experienced recurring symptoms of what they thought were bladder infections for years before being referred to a urologist. Some are sleep deprived due to extreme urinary frequency. They may need to urinate every ten minutes or as often as 60 times per day. Others report urinary urgency and pressure. The most disabling symptom is pain, particularly as their bladder fills with urine. These patients are often desperate for relief and require urgent treatment."

Normal daily functions like sitting, working and intimacy are difficult if not impossible. Fifty percent of IC patients find driving in a car painful. The quality of life for some IC patients is worse than patients experiencing chronic renal failure and undergoing dialysis. Jill Osborne, President & Founder of the Interstitial Cystitis Network, offered "An IC patient's life often revolves around restroom access. When you have a wounded, ulcerated bladder even one tablespoon of urine can be agonizing. Some patients cannot 'hold it' without experiencing bladder spasms and severe pain."

Discrimination & Malpractice Occurs

Patients often limit their lives dramatically, avoiding long car rides, flying, concerts and/or sport events where restroom access is denied. Some are homebound. Sixty three percent of patients who have IC are unable to work but those who do often face significant obstacles.

Ms. Osborne continued "The worst case of disability discrimination I've seen involved Anne*, a young woman who worked for a major department store in Texas. She, like many other patients, was routinely denied access to the employee restroom. In her case, however, her supervisor demanded that she wear a diaper to work so that she could urinate while still running a cash register."

Yet, that pales in comparison to the experience of Angela, who won a $2,000,000 medical malpractice settlement when her ob-gyn needlessly removed her healthy uterus even after the urologist reported that she had interstitial cystitis. This is not unusual. Many physicians, particularly ob-gyns, primary care or emergency room personnel, are poorly trained in the diagnosis and treatment of bladder pain patients.

Early Intervention May Prevent Progression and Improve Quality of Life

There is hope! Dr. Burstein offered "The early diagnosis and treatment of interstitial cystitis can dramatically improve symptoms and patient quality of life." Numerous therapies are now available, including: oral medications, bladder instillations, physical therapy for pelvic floor muscle tension and neuromodulation, providing many new options for patients to explore with their medical team. He continued "Left untreated and without critical dietary modification, interstitial cystitis patients can face increasing urological symptoms that may result in a severely ulcerated bladder, reduced bladder capacity and, in worse case scenarios, bladder removal."

Diet modification is a simple and effective way of reducing some bladder symptoms yet the role of diet continues to be ignored by some patients and providers. Research studies from Long Island University revealed that certain foods that are high in acid and/or caffeine can worsen bladder symptoms, including coffees, green teas, regular teas, sodas, chocolate, fruit juices and some vitamins. Patients who continue to drink coffee, cranberry juice or other irritating foods and beverages on a daily basis often experience a dramatic worsening of their symptoms.

IC Awareness Month

IC Awareness Month hopes to make a difference by raising awareness at the "grassroots" level, in towns and cities across the USA and the world. It is the first month long public relations campaign dedicated to this bladder disease, motivating patients to become advocates in their communities. One key goal is to reach other patients who are suffering in silence, at home and alone, by offering hope, information and encouragement to seek treatment. We encourage compassion from family members, friends, businesses and the community at large.

Ms. Osborne said "There's a good chance that you know someone with IC/BPS. They may be unable to sit through a movie without getting up once or twice to visit the restroom. They may think that they are getting bladder infections every month despite the fact that their urine cultures are negative. They make frequent bathroom stops during car rides. They may find sex painful. These are the patients that we'd like to reach."

While some IC patients are streaking their hair blue in honor of IC Awareness Month, others are making donations directly to the William Beaumont Hospital (Royal Oak, MI), one of the leading IC research institutions.

In this years campaign, patients and family members have been asked to evaluate and assess their community as a whole. Are medical care providers in touch with the latest research and treatment modalities? If not, we ask them to download the latest articles and distribute them to local providers and/or to contact local teaching hospitals to set up a course on bladder and/or pelvic pain conditions. Do patients in the community receive adequate support? If not, patients will be given tools to start a new support group.

Social networking has become a powerful force for advocacy. More than forty thousand IC patients have united on the IC Network website and Facebook to share their stories. They can attend free support group meetings, utilize the 24/7 support forum provided by the IC Network, watch the "Living with IC" video series on YouTube and sign up for a free e-newsletters.

Proactive patients around the country are also lobbying for advocacy and increased research funding by asking their city councils and state representatives to pass proclamations in support of IC patients and/or are writing their US representatives to support additional funding for IC research.

This year, a "Thank You" campaign has been created to give well deserved, positive strokes to those medical care providers who are treating patients compassionately and proactively.

Additional media materials, backgrounders, expert interview opportunities, and IC fact sheets can be found on the campaign website here.
